Helen McKenna, textile artist
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?
I work with creative textiles and vintage fabrics. I make quite an eclectic collection of items including handmade dolls and I also do dress making. This is my hobby – I work part time and it is something I do because I love doing it!
Why did you choose to attend the show this year?
So that more people could see my work and it gave me the chance to run workshops.
Do you think show is beneficial for amateur crafters to attend?
I think so. After all, I’m an amateur and I think the show is good as it’s very varied and there is so much going on for people to see and try.
And finally, what’s your favourite way to be crafty?
My favourite way to be crafty has to be working with vintage fabrics and making patchworks, like the patchwork hearts that I make.
