About me

I have always loved making. Sewing is my favourite pastime with the occasional knitting phase. I am married with two children. We have a very mischievous Lakeland Terrier called Mabel who loves chasing her ball.
I have been making and sewing for many years now. My speciality is hand crafted, vintage and creative textiles. I attend many vintage, design and handmade fairs in and around Cumbria selling dolls, cushions, clothes, aprons, pin cushions and many more textile related products.
I am always looking for new things to create, I find sewing and making things therapeutic and fun. I would recommend getting creative and making something. Its a great hobby and it can even turn into a small business!
Please take a look at my gallery page to see my textile creations. If there is anything you like or would like me to make, contact me.
Inspiration

My work is inspired by a visit to Buenos Aires in 2006. The final year of my degree was fast approaching and I needed a topic. Wandering through the streets I passed lots of stalls selling gerberas and roses in beautiful vibrant colours against a background of buildings with faded peeling paintwork. The ornate railings reminded me of lace. The modern art gallery had a few Frida Kahst paintings on display. When I got back I researched the artist herself. Frida wore traditional Mexican embroidered dresses. The flowers, colours, paintwork of Buenos Aires, Frida Kahlo, traditional dress of Mexico all continue to inspire the way I work. I use vintage fabric, dyed embroidered cloths, tulle and lace.
